Thanksgiving Food Drive 2012

Sign-up Information
If you would like to receive a food basket for your family this year, please carefully read the following instructions and eligibility requirements.

** Please enter through the parking lot on Eastern Avenue **

Eligibility Requirements

• MUST be a resident of Schenectady County
• Sign-up must be completed in person by one member of each family
• Persons with handicap or disability may send required information w/ another individual
• ONE of the following forms of ID must be presented at sign-up:
  • Medicaid Card
  • Food Stamp Card
  • Social Security Disability Award Letter
  • SSI Award Letter
  • HEAP Award Letter
  • WIC Card

  • Public Assistance Card
  • Active Unemployment Card
  • Referral letter from a church pastor or community agency (Must provide contact information for person writing referral)

Basket Pick-Up 2012
If you have qualified for a basket and have signed up as required above, please follow these instructions for picking up your Thanksgiving Food Basket.

** Please enter through the side entrance ONLY, the main entrance will be locked **

Instructions:
If a line has formed, please wait patiently to enter the sign-in area. Once at the sign-in booths, you will be asked to verify your information and will be given a colored slip to receive your basket. You cannot receive a basket without the appropriate slip. Please listen carefully to instructions given at the sign-in booth.

Volunteers are needed for the 2012 Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Dates/Times/Activities:
Weds Nov. 14, 4-8pm: Assembling Boxes
Thurs Nov. 15, 9am-3pm: Pick-up/unload food
Fri Nov. 16, 9am-4pm: Sorting food
Sat Nov. 17, 10am-5pm: Packing Food Baskets
Sun Nov. 18, 9am-6pm: Distributing Food Baskets
Mon Nov. 19, 8am-4pm: Agency Pick-up/Deliveries

Summer Lunch Program

Many children in our community receive a federally subsidized lunch during the school year. But what happens during the summer, when school is out? Over 15 years ago, the Schenectady Inner City Ministries (SICM) started the Summer Lunch Program. Its goal is to provide a nutritious lunch to children, 18 and under, in Schenectady County.

Last summer, this program served over 37,700 meals with the help of 600+ volunteers. CFH supports the Summer Lunch program through monetary donations and volunteer manpower each year. Visit the SICM website for additional information: www.sicm.us/Summer_Ministries.html

Community Awareness Events

Freihofer's Community Walk

CFH Board Members and supporters participated in the 23rd annual Freihofer's Community Walk in June 2011 to increase awareness of our cause and raise donations.
